Following Ken's submission of a photograph of this bus withdrawn I thought I would add this view of KEL734 in service - the only one of the batch I didn't see on my visit in 1967. These LL6Bs had eight foot wide bodies and did not enter service until 1951. The bodies were originally configured as coaches with less seats, although the number varied, some having 28 seats at one stage. They were converted to 39 seat buses in 1964/5. 691 was the last of the batch in service, being withdrawn in 1968.
The black fleet number on a yellow background indicated that this was a Southampton bus. The display is set for a rather odd service, as it ran between the two points described and only took five minutes to get from one end to the other. I would have expected such a service to be worked by Southampton Corporation.
