On a wet day in Wick, Highland Omnibuses AL8, UCS604, an Albion Lowlander LR1 with Northern Counties H39/32F bodywork, waits for its next trip to Thurso via Bower and Castletown. It had been new to Western SMT as their 1740 in 1962 but was transferred to Highland in 1966. It was withdrawn in 1977.
Highland Omnibuses tended to pay scant regard to advertised route numbers and frequently showed the fleet number instead, if this was possible. A-8 is the closest the crew have been able to manage!
