Kimberley (South Africa) car 22 semi derelict at Wesselton Junction Stores Sidings near Kimberley. I think the car is one bought in 1914 from J.G.Brill of Pholadelphia when the two system in Kimberly, Victoria Tramways and Kimberley and Alexandersfontein Electric Railway merged to form Kimberley Tramways, run by de Beers. Extensions and further electrification meant more cars were needed
The Kimberley trams largely closed on 30th Sept 1939. Part of the Kenilworth route remained for workmans services, absorbed into the de Beers internal system until 30th Nov. 1947. Some vehicles remained for internal de Beers use until about 1964. I photgraphed the remaining cars in Sept 1968.
Any information on the cars and the system will be appreciated. Part was restored as a heritage line in 1985. Not sure if still running
