Track repairs in progress with works car 8A in attendance and Horsfield 207 in the background seen in Chapeltown Road at Francis Street. This works car started life in March 1901 as number 198, a double-deck open top passenger car seating 34/22 with an E.R & T.W. Ltd., Preston body on a Brill 21E truck. A top cover was fitted in March 1908 and it was withdrawn from passenger service in 1922. It served as a double-deck stores car from 1922 to 1927 and was then converted to single deck layout and became number 5 in the stores car fleet in June 1927. It was renumbered 8A in May 1951, was fitted with vestibles in January 1954, painted red and continued as a stores car until withdrawal on 30th November 1959.
