Trams and Trolleybuses

Commercial postcard (posted in early 1920s, but date not clear) of Southend toastrack tram 42 in “The Boulevard, Thorpe Bay”. 40-42 were delivered in 1914 as open cross bench toastrack trams with open sides but with the collapse of the holiday traffic during the war, were temporarily converted to saloons from 1916 to 1919 with the benches turned round to provide divided longitudinal seating down each side so that would date this photo to perhaps 1919
There is another photo of 42 here taken at the southern end of the Boulevard.
The livery of the car is not right - it should be green, but has been coloured here to look more like dark blue.

Photo from Brian Pask collection, taken c.1919, Thorpe Hall Avenue, Thorpe Bay, Southend
