The first Crossley Condor in the Portsmouth fleet was bus 74, RV720, new 10/31 with a Short H26/24R body and was initially used to train former tramcar drivers as a bus driver tuition vehicle.
It was withdrawn 8/47 and converted to a towing lorry (as seen here in Methuen Road depot, Eastney). It performed this role from 10/50 until 1971 (when it was a mere 40 years old!) It then went into preservation and, as far as I know, is fortunately still with us - only another 10 years to go before it clocks up its centenary.
