In the nineteen fifites, British Railways was responsible for the inter-urban tramway between Grimsby and Immingham. To work this it bought a number of cars from the Gateshead system when that closed in 1951. One of these was Gateshead car 10 a 1920s saloon that became 26 in the Grimsby and Immingham fleet.
When that system closed in 1961 the British Transport Commision preserved the car. Now based at Beamish it was restored and run as Gateshead 10 for a number of years although it is currently in BR green as seen here.
