In scanning this image for submission, I think I am seeing it as a positive for the first time since I took it. It shows SELNEC Northern 6222, TDK322, which had been originally Rochdale 322 new in 1959 and was one of a batch of four AEC Regent V D2RAs with Weymann H33/28RD bodies, only these four in the fleet having rear doors.
322 was numerically the last new AEC Regent in the fleet and was not outdone by the first of the quartet, which was exhibited at the 1958 Commercial Motor Show, as it was chosen to visit Rochdale's twin town of Tourcoing, near Lille.
6222 is seen on a typical August Sunday working the 21 service from Bury via Heywood. It is accompanied on the left by a Yelloway Reliance/Harrington and behind by a former Oldham Roe-bodied Atlantean of the GBU-D series on a Sunday morning 9X journey to Hathershaw. I took this photo prior to acting as a (very wet!) marshal in Rochdale for the Trans-Pennine Run that year. Later on when I was Rally Secretary 6222, by then restored as Rochdale 322, would be a regular attender and pass this very spot on Trans-Pennine Runs in the 1990s (and beyond, I believe).
