Uses for an old bus

Photo © Terry Blois. Please do not re-post without permission.

A pair of Southern Vectis buses converted to service vehicles, on the left 403, DL9013, a Dennis Ace new in July 1934 with a Harrington 20 seat single deck body, converted to a lorry in September 1954. Alongside is BOW168, a Bristol L5G with Beadle B34F body new to Hants & Dorset in July 1938. It was converted by H&D to a tree cutter for Southern Vectis in the winter of 1951/2.
DL9013 was formally withdrawn a month after this photo was taken and scrapped in 1962 while BOW168 was withdrawn in 1966 (although when photographed here in Summer 1960, it was carrying a "Not Licensed" label) and has been preserved.
