HFH702 was a Beadle-Bedford chassisless with B35R body, new in November 1950.
When I took this photograph, and for the ensuing 50 years or so, I believed that this had been new to the Bristol Tramways Gloucester subsidiary on account of the Gloucester registration. In checking details for this posting, however, I find that it was in fact new to the independent Silvey, of Epney, Gloucestershire, along with another, HFH 368, new in June 1950. Following a small number of prototypes, Beadle built 50 of this design of chassisless bus using Bedford running units, but virtually all the others were for companies in the Tilling Group. There must have been some story as to why an obscure Gloucestershire independent ended up with a couple of new buses of a type that was otherwise exclusive to the Tilling Group.
Whatever the background HFH702 subsequently passed to another independent, A H George, Penryn, (t/a Pelere Motors), with whom it is seen here. I have no further details of withdrawal or disposal.
