Family resemblance - WW2 separates these two Samuel Ledgard all Leyland Titans. At the rear is PNW91, a 1952 PD2/12, while leading the way is JNW288, a 1940 TD7.
The scene can be narrowed down to approximately 1.20pm on a Saturday afternoon. The prewar vehicle "Grandad" would leave at 1.22pm as a duplicate all the way to Leeds via Guiseley, while "Grandson" was the service bus at 1.25pm - the latter being part of an enormously arduous day on that very very busy route and a mileage approaching 300. PNW91 worked that particular shift six days a week from being new in February 1952 until the arrival of the 1957 AEC Regent Vs, when it continued to perform effortlessly on only slightly less hefty schedules.
