The last new double-deck vehicles delivered during Samuel Ledgard's lifetime were PNW91-3, 1951 Leyland bodied PD2/12s. The next, and last, new deckers apart from Daimler CVG6 XUG141 in March 1957 were 1949-1954U which were Roe H37/28R bodied AEC D3RV Regents delivered in September 1957. Ledgard's first bus had been a Karrier new in September 1912, registered U1949, leading to the choice of registration numbers for the new buses. 1952U is seen here in King Street, Leeds with Hebble 152, BJX680, a 1951 Willowbrook B43F bodied Leyland PSU1/1 Royal Tiger on the Leeds to Rochdale service.
In the background is another Ledgard bus on the service to Bradford via Fartown.
