GEF281 was new to Bee-Line, West Hartlepool and was acquired by Carter, Northwold in October 1962. It was a Bedford SB1 'C Type' with a Plaxton Consort IV C41F body which had been new in March 1959, one of fifteen new to Bee-Line at that time.
Although the floor and roof levels were raised the windscreen was still in the normal position leading to a much deeper front dome than usual. The steering wheel had been made more upright and the driving position moved forward giving more room for the passenger seating.
