Smith, Reading bought four of these wartime RTs in 1956 and FXT283 was an A.E.C. O661 Regent with an L.P.T.B. H30/26R body new in 1940.
It had been RT108 when with London Transport from whom it was acquired via North (dealer), Leeds. Smith fitted platform doors in 1959-60 and it was withdrawn in December 1964 passing to Bowen, Birmingham who transferred it to associate Arnold, Tamworth in the same month. It was finally withdrawn in January 1967.
