In 1953 Walsall took delivery of ten Leyland PD2/12s with Park Royal/Roe FH33/23R bodies (811-820, RDH501-510) with extra provision for luggage accommodation. This view of 819, RDH509, shows the nearside sliding door for engine access and also the grilles above the windscreens for the forced air ventilation system with which these were equipped in addition to the normal system of opening windows.
This batch were the first new double deck buses in the fleet to carry the new livery of pale blue with a yellow band.
