John Boylett Memorial Collection Part 2 - 1959

Banstead Coaches started operation in 1950 with the limited company being formed in 1958 and HCG581 was a Bedford OB with a Mulliner B31F body which had been new in 1949 to Ford, Silchester. Banstead acquired it in November 1958 and it is seen here outside The Mid Day Sun in Outwood Lane at Chipstead.
It was operating the service from Chipstead Valley to Banstead Victoria entirely within the London Transport area. This service, which commenced in 1959, operated daily, whilst a second service in Coulsdon (Edward Road Circular via Foxley Lane), started in 1964, ran Monday to Saturday except Christmas. Note the L.T. bus stop to the right of the bus.
