In the discussion on my photo of T1 at Hornchurch Garage Peter Stobart commented that it should have been the original LGOC T1. I cannot manage a photo of that, but as a next best thing, here is one of the same batch, T31 UU6646, at Chiswick in March or April 1956. Most of these buses were withdrawn by 1949, although a few (most of which had been refurbished) survived until 1953 on a route at Walton-on-Thames where a weight restriction precluded use of anything else.
T31 survived on training duties at Chiswick until October 1956, when it was purchased for preservation. This seemed to be a strange survival as by this time LT had plenty of other buses available for training duties. Does anyone know why Chiswick retained it for so long?
