Framed by an unknown private hire coach, Jersey Motor Transport 677, J36677 is about to collect me at Gorey Village to return to St Helier on trunk route 1.
Location and green livery don't hide its origins as London Transport RTL909, LLU899 a Leyland Titan 7RT with Metro Cammell H30/26R body to service in October 1950 and sold to JMT in April 1967 - still with that maker's body.
Ian Smith's excellent Countrybus site records the RTL sold as advertisement bus to Nantes, France in February 1973 and later as 3756 QH 85 from July 1981 at Muséobus de la Vendée. Happily we have yet another survivor, from August 1999 lodging at the Musée Maurice-Dufresne (Dufresne Collection), Azay-le-Rideau. This concludes my budget full day in Jersey at age 18, courtesy of British Rail pass entitlement and two nights of bed & breakfast @ £1.75 recalled due to the novelty of decimalisation four months earlier.
