Córas Iompair Éireann R731, OIK927, was a Leyland Titan OPD2/10 with CIE H36/30R body new in March 1957, withdrawn in June 1975 and scrapped in October 1976.
In this all-commercial shot in Cork, it lines up in the sun as pretty girls cross watched by a classic VW Transporter and BMC flat bed lorry, probably an Austin FG of around 7.5t gross.
As a relative youngster on the group, I found it quite a surprise honour to take back the CIE photographic record four years to 1971. British Rail employer concessions certainly helped here, along with a (then) proper service on the CIE rail route to Rosslare Harbour via Waterford. The "Duke of Rothesay" provided day and night sailings for me from and to Fishguard.
