Brighton and Hove 5, OPN805, a Bristol LDS6B with ECW H33/27R body, new in 1959.
The LDS was in effect a prototype for the FS series. This batch was delivered without a front grill, the idea being the the CBC system would provide cooling for the engine. However this proved inadequate so grills were subsequently fitted.
Buses Illustrated for January 1960 reported this saying "Lodekkas 4 and 5 have received standard grills in place of the ugly solid front with winged motifs. What an improvement."
