The Back End of the Bus

A rear view of JWU937, a Leyland Tiger PS1/1 with Plaxton C33F body, new in 1950 to Charles Wood of Brighouse, and latterly with Thomas Bros. of Llangadog.

Pictured at Winkleigh in 1974, having been dragged out of the undergrowth where it had acquired an organic green coating, like so many others there. At the time of my visit, despite noting the West Riding registration, I had been unaware that it had originally belonged to an independent operator based just down the road from where I lived.
I would ever so much like to think that someone did later come along, take it away and restore it over the next forty-odd years and that it was about to reappear on the rally scene, resplendent, but I suspect that may not have happened.
