Gateshead & Distict 84, KCN184, a Leyland PDR1/1 with Alexander H78F body new in 1959.
Gateshead took its first Atlanteans in 1959 and 84 is seen at Barras Bridge on its way to Bill Quay. The bus carries the dark but rather nice chocolate brown livery. With Newcastle, Tynemouth, Tyneside and SDO along with Gateshead all going for these new fangled buses in a big way, Newcastle soon became 'Atlantean city'. The Alexander bodies for SDO and Gateshead along with Glasgow LA1 and the solitary Sheffield example had almost vertical fronts, the Newcastle versions benefitting visually with a slight rake from waistrail level.
