This sad sight of former 2904 at Norths (dealer) in Sherburn near Leeds is particularly pointed as this was never supposed to happen. WVX was sold on to Norths from ENOC in June 1982, and saw service with the nearby Knottingley Emblems Jazz Band. A frequent visitor to Norths, this bus was wrongly diagnosed as having a cracked engine block in late 1990, so the Emblems got a new bus, and WVX was put out to pasture - but the inevitable happened.
The quest for parts for semi-automatic FLFs has always confounded operators and owners of these fine vehicles, particularly in the late 1980s and 1990s -- the unique gearbox, transfer box and fluid flywheel proving the most elusive parts of all. By mistake, WVX was robbed for those elusive parts and was then so cannibalised that by August 1993 what was left was finally broken up on site. But as Paul took this picture in September 1991, sitting in the back of his Sierra XR4x4 was the very transfer box and fluid flywheel that once performed for the Emblems. Sorry WVX - but at least AVX975G has a spare now.....!
