Qomewhere in the South of France lurks 987KOO - former Eastern National 1651/2774. This 1963 FLF was withdrawn by ENOC in 1980, and passed to dealer Ensign of Grays. By October 1980, KOO was sold on to Emsworth Marine Exchange, Emsworth, then was apparently used as a caravan in Emsworth in 1981. By November 1982, KOO was back at Ensign, and was then exported to France.
This shot, taken by Maurice Bateman, is curious. As a frequent visitor to this area both for business and pleasure, Paul knows this exact location - the eastern end of Golfe Juan (near Cannes) on the N98 which runs along the coast. Maurice shot the picture on September 3rd, 1996, and although Paul has tried for years to find any double deckers in this area, he has failed, but Maurice caught two. Both had disappeared by the summer of 1997, and despite his efforts with the locals during a press launch he ran in Cannes during January 1999, none of them had any memory of the buses. Shame the RT got in the way!
