In the 1960s a large proportion of Wallace Arnold passengers for European holidays were conveyed from Leeds to Southend Airport for the Channel crossing. This was a busy operation often involving six or seven coaches in a day. Breakdowns were commendably rare but on one occasion a WA vehicle failed in Southend and Eastern National PL344, 569UVX, was loaned to save the day. This fine coach is shown leaving Leeds with more tourists the following morning at the start of its "repatriation" journey.
