East Kent Road Car 6546FN, an AEC Reliance 2U3RA with Park Royal C49F body, new in 1963. The photo captures the transition to NBC uniformity, East Kent were reluctant in the early days to toe the party line.
The coach is on layover from Victoria Coach Station, about 3/4 mile away on the other side of the river. The location was known as Battersea Wharf , a piece of land between Chelsea Bridge (sprouting from the coach's roof) and Grosvenor Bridge, a lesser known London railway bridge.
The site is now very posh flats known as Chelsea Bridge Wharf - I don't imagine that any of the current occupants have ever heard of an AEC Reliance.
I worked at VCS for a few years back then and often travelled over to the wharf on anything that was going that way; sadly my photographic abilities and camera didn't cut the mustard. Most of the images that I have are fairly poor. A few good ones if anybody is interested?
