Central SMT BL309, FGM309D, awaiting departure from Killermont Street. Central used the two right hand bays whilst Midland occupied bays 5, 6 and 7. By 1974, the size of buses had outgrown the cramped area. In time honoured fashion, the conductor, changing the screens is wearing his cash bag and ticket machine well below the belt!
The other stances out of sight on the left and at right angles to Killermont St were entered from Germiston Street. Buses exited via a single doorway onto Buchanan Street behind the photographer. Passengers (and photographers) could walk about without restriction.
