Blackpool Balloon car 707 was the first of four of the class to be heavily rebuilt to become Millennium cars - in this case in 1998.
This view is a reminder of the grotesque all-over adverts worn by many of the fleet in their later years, and is seen on the day of the tramways' 125th Anniversary. It stands at the temporary terminus of Fisherman's Walk, Fleetwood because Lord Street was closed for rebuilding to light rail standards. It had the dubious honour of being the last car to return to the depot on the final day of traditional tram operation on 6th November 2011.
Like the other three rebuilds, it was chosen for modification to a "B" class car intended to supplement light rail operations when they took over on 4th April 2012. After limited use in this role, it was stored until modified for Heritage "C" class operations in 2020 and repainted in green and cream. Sadly, Covid restrictions severely limited these services until recently.
