Blackpool 638 is one of the Brush cars introduced in 1937, when she had fleet number 302.
There is a view of her sister 624 already on the site. 638 gained the single indicator display in 1970, and was withdrawn and stored in 1980. Although others of the series have entered preservation, 638 did not. We see her in the depot doorway in May 1975, with a sister behind her, and one of the works fleet alongside. Note that 638 does not have the rooftop adverts, but her sister does.

The works car is 753, still with us. She was built as a "Standard" car by the Department's own workshops in 1924, fleet number 143, and fitted with driver's windscreens in 1929. Enclosed ends to the upper deck were fitted in 1932 and, in 1957, she was withdrawn from the passenger fleet. She emerged in her present role in 1958, though the appearance has changed since then. One of her unusual features is the presence of a bus engine, enabling movement when power is off. I have a view of 753 on her own, to be offered for publication in due course.
