Two rather sad looking Leyland PD3s at the back of Blackpool's Rigby Road Depot The yellow one in the foreground carries two fleet numbers 506 and 257 - neither bus had reg plates. They are former Blackpool 506 & 507, HFR506E & HFR507E respectively.
506 became 257 in the general council vehicle fleet numbering system when it passed to the tram track works department as mobile site hut while 507 was painted in an all over livery for the tramway centenary in the mid 1980s and carried that livery through withdrawal from passenger service and use as a driver trainer. It then passed to Mac's Tours in Edinburgh circa 2000 who never used it, back via dealers to a Blackpool enthusiast with whom it became a target for vandals. It was then sold on again and may become a doner vehicle for the owner of 506 to use to restore 506.
