An era of standardisation in the Bedwas and Machen fleet started in 1957 with a Massey-bodied AEC Regent V MD3RV 10 (RAX583), followed by 11 (UWO498) in 1959 and 5 (422CAX) in 1961. The last of these is shown in later life.
Bedwas and Machen lost its identity as a result of local government reorganisation from 1st April 1974 and along with Caerphilly and Gelligaer Urban District Councils became part of the new Rhymney Valley District Council fleet. After withdrawal 422CAX (by then numbered 82 in the RVDC fleet) was converted for use as a trainer and received this livery of cream with a yellow band and brown wings. Seen in Caerphilly bus station in August 1978, this bus survives today as part of the Tameside Transport Collection in Mossley.
