Alexander (Northern) old and new at Perth Bus Station, but both immaculate on route 59 to Blairgowrie via Guildtown with BL garage plates. NPA98, BWG324, was one of numerous similar Alexander C35F bodied Leyland Tiger PS1s new to Alexander, entering service in September 1948 and gaining an "N" prefix when transferred to the new Northern company in May 1961.
NNV11, DRG951C, was part of the first Albion Viking VK43L rear-engined batch of fifteen with Alexander C40F bodies new in 1965. They must have been successful as eventually 94 were owned, including six from Eastern Scottish.
Released into the world alone that week at age 14, or rather with good school friend, staying at youth hostels from Ferniehirst Castle, near Jedburgh, through to Dundee and Birnam of Macbeth fame. Sadly few photos have survived, perhaps I was very selective due to cash shortage. Adult fare for both of us, and no rover tickets.
