A1 Service (Hill & Paterson) owned WCS195, one of three AEC Regent Vs with Strachan H35/28RD bodies to enter service with the company in 1963; the others went to Robert Meney and Kerr & Linney (Elizabeth Kerr and James Linney), both of Ardrossan.
Several owners adopted individual features which identified their buses and Hill & Patterson, based in Stevenston, usually displayed a silver star on the radiator or front panel and, although it can’t be seen in this poor photograph, painted their radiators in alternate blue and maroon stripes. A much better photograph of the same vehicle, taken by Stuart Little in Ardrossan, is already on the site and shows these features much more clearly.
WCS195 is seen emerging from the gloom of the A1 bus station in John Dickie Street, Kilmarnock, and setting out for Ardrossan where it will negotiate the Begg’s Terrace/Whitelees Crescent council scheme before terminating at the Parkhouse Square stance.
